From 6 to 9 October, Odesa will host the season’s biggest fashion event — the 14th season of Odessa Fashion Day. For the first time in the project’s history, it will last four full days. Because of this, the leitmotif for OFD appeared quite naturally. Speaking at the IA “Odesa-Media” press centre, OFD director and voice Kateryna Makedonska said that the event would unfold in the style of the four elements: water, fire, air, and earth.
“Because today’s world is overloaded with technology and people lack real human connection, it seemed to me that we need to return to the origins,” Makedonska said. “Each day of the event will be different and unlike the previous one.”
This year, Odessa Fashion Day will take place across three locations. The first day will be held at Kadorr shopping centre, the second at Londonskaya Hotel, while the final two days will take place at the Odesa Main Post Office.
“Each location is interesting to us in its own way. Because of that, the whole event will be quite eclectic,” said OFD organising committee head Kostiantyn Lieontiev. “Kadorr has an unusual broken runway line and a beautiful atrium. Londonskaya is an art object in itself, with an interesting historical past. The Main Post Office location, where the main shows will take place, can already be called a traditional place for Odessa Fashion Day.”
It is worth noting that the project has been running for nine years and serves as a старт-up platform for young talent. More than 30 designers will take part in the 14th season of OFD, with one third of them coming from Odesa.
“Every year, the number of designers and shows at Odessa Fashion Day grows,” said OFD producer Denys Korotkyi. “This year, designers from all over Ukraine will come to the event. In addition, international guests will present their collections, including Denis Tyan from Canada, Polish designer Lena Largo, and others. This year Odesa audiences can expect unusual performances and productions, shows, and live music.”
The organisers of the 14th season of Odessa Fashion Day stressed that the event is entirely non-commercial, so it can be attended free of charge with prior registration.
