From 2 to 4 October, Odesa will host a colourful event for fashion lovers — the 12th season of Odessa Fashion Day. As organiser Kostiantyn Lieontiev said at the press centre of IA “Odesa-Media”, the aim of the project is to help designers from Odesa and the region promote their brands on the national and international market and build useful connections.
The fashion days in Odesa will open on 2 October at 4:00 pm with a presentation of paintings by artist Neonila Yefimova. This will be followed by 20 shows by Ukrainian designers focused on the Spring-Summer 2016 season, including four presentations of children’s clothing, four of menswear, and the rest dedicated to womenswear.
Each year, the number of participating designers continues to grow. According to the organisers, this time Odessa Fashion Day is reaching a national level. Designers from Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and other cities across Ukraine will present their work. Among them are Anna Voight, Spring Fashion, Sofitie, and others.
“Over six years, the understanding of our project’s essence has taken shape. It is non-commercial, and our main goal is to create a starting platform for any project in the field of fashion,” said Kostiantyn Lieontiev. “We are focused on promoting designers from Odesa and the region. This year, partners from many other cities will join us.”
In turn, Odessa Fashion Day show host Kateryna Makedonska underlined the significance of the project.
“It is wonderful that through the vain world of fashion, people become filled with deeper meaning. I love hosting fashion days and being among these creative and artistic people. Fashion inspires, especially women,” said Kateryna Makedonska.
The main location of the 12th season of Odessa Fashion Day will be Riviera Shopping Centre.
In addition to the traditional runway shows, the venue of the 12th season of Odessa Fashion Day will also host various presentations and masterclasses. This was announced by project coordinator Denys Korotkyi at the IA “Odesa-Media” press centre.
Throughout all three days of the fashion event, Fashion Shopping Place will operate as a shopping area where visitors will be able to purchase the looks shown on the runway.
One of the highlights of the fashion days in Odesa will be the presentation of the “Women for Children” project. For this, representatives of the Odesa Club of Successful Women created their own clothing designs, which they intend to model themselves. Funds raised from the sale of these garments will be transferred to charitable foundations supporting children in need.
This year, Odessa Fashion Day will take place at Riviera Shopping Centre. The organisers say they aim to choose the best possible venue.
“We are very interested in taking part in events like this, because Riviera is directly connected with the world of fashion and designers. At the moment, Odessa Fashion Day is the loudest, most popular, and most successful project in Ukraine,” said Natalia Tsypurdei, representative of Riviera Shopping Centre.
